South and west coast stays
Bentota, Mirissa and Unawatuna each offer a different stay. Think about whether you want to spend most of your time at the hotel, walk to restaurants or visit Galle. Check where the hotel is, as well as which town it is in.
East coast options
On the east coast, look at Trincomalee, nearby Nilaveli and Arugam Bay. Arugam Bay is known for surfing. Around Trincomalee, you can spend time at the beach and visit temples and the town.
Choose for your month and interests
Check the season on each coast before booking. Tell us whether you want to rest, surf, spend time with family or take a boat trip, and how many days you want by the sea.
Plan beach days around local conditions
Ask locally about waves and currents before swimming or taking part in water activities. A beach can look calm and still have strong currents. Keep a few other plans in mind, such as a walk, a meal or a visit to town.
